Rushock Bog

A boggy region of the Shire many miles to the northwest of Hobbiton. It was formed from a broadening stream that flowed through the village of Needlehole, and the bog itself lay south of that settlement. Its name is apparently a compound of ‘rush’and ‘hassock’referring to the tough and coarse grasses that grew among the marshes.
