Where dreams *might* come true

Otherworld

A poetic name used by Bilbo in his Song of Eärendil, referring to the lands of Aman beyond the Great Sea. Since the Downfall of Númenor in the late Second Age, these lands had been taken away from the mortal world, and could no longer be reached by ship, except to those permitted to the travel the Straight Road. To mortals, then, the lands of the distant West belonged to a different world, hence the name ‘Otherworld’.
